  • Travel with I797C (i751 in process)

Hi - my i751 is in process to remove conditions on my greencard through marriage. I did my biometrics on Jan. 31, haven't heard from USCIS since. I was hoping do a week-long trip to London in May, is it OK to travel with the i797 receipt notice, expired greencard and passport? I'm just curious if anyone has been experiencing problems entering the country with the i797? Thanks.

Since the I751 has the words: “THIS NOTICE DOES NOT GRANT ANY IMMIGRATION STATUS OR BENEFIT.”, I doubt you will be able to re-enter the US if your Green Card is expired.
    Not legal advice.

Do not travel, you must wait at least to receive the letter from USCIS extending your green card for one year until they are done processes your I-751. Which if you biometrics was done in January now its April you should of received it or should be soon.

I am stuck in the same situation. Although doing a little bit of research I found out that the i797C is an extension of your green card. You should be fine travelling with your Passport, Expired Green Card and the i797C Notice. Hope this helps.

        Thanks,

I would definitely try to call USCIS customer service to ask just in case! Give them a call, then you don't need to be so worried or scared. Good luck!

Wrong. The I-751 receipt is an extension letter.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
