  • I 864 Independent Contractor - Poverty Guidelines & Filing Taxes

My sponsor is an Independent Contractor. Is there anything specific, when she files taxes, to keep in consideration regarding the Poverty Guidelines as it relates to I-864? I am concerned about additional tax forms that may to be filed and how it will affect the minimum income required.

I am aware of Line 22 on form 1040.

    Thanks.

Hello Nettiel, since you are using a sponsor that is an independant contractor the tax situation is different.
A self employed person must file with IRS on a quarterly basis using form 1040ES, also they do not recieve a W-2 at the end of the year.

      Form 1040 and Schedule C

      Thank you Adrian.

Okay, here's the deal: She has 2 jobs. She works at a hospital (as their employee) and she does private tutoring. She has been filing Form 1040 and Schedule C. Does that suffice?

Short answer is YES! As long as both her declared incomes exceed poverty guidelines.
