When filing taxes: To meet the Poverty Guidelines. Is it line 22 (total income) or line 37 (adjusted gross income) that needs to meet the Poverty Guidelines?
Neither. It is your *current income*, i.e. the annual salary of the job that you have right now, at this moment, that needs to meet the 125% of poverty level. Not what your income was in the past or will be in the future.
The amounts that need to be filled out in I-864 Part 6 item 19 are the "total income" line from your tax returns for the last 3 years, which is line 22 on Form 1040.
This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
