  • CR1 Visa Approved...help required with GREEN CARD FORM.....

So finally, after much needed wait time, my wife finally got her CR1 visa. I was in a process of filling the fee for her Green Card form online when I noticed something different. So the name of my wife on her passport (under given name is YYYY YYYY XX). The SURNAME section in her passport is empty.
When she received the CR1 Visa stamp on the passport her entire name ( YYYY YYYY XX) was put under “SURNAME”. Under her “GIVEN NAME” was written “FNU” which means first name unknown.
Is there a mistake regarding her name on the CR1 Visa Stamp?

USCIS website only allows me to pay the $220 immigration fee only. It does not allow me to fill out the Green Card form or make any such changes.

    Please advise me ..

    Thanks

    Hi,

First of all congrats on your wife's visa. I'm from Turkey.
My husband submitted necessary documents to USCIS for CR1 visa in Dec 2016. We have been waiting for 5 months. Unfortunately, my documents were sent to Nebraska center which is known as the slowest.
Can you please tell me your USCIS(which center), NVC and counseling processing times according to your experience?
    Thanks in advance.

      Hello

May I know who told you that Nebraska Center is slowest? My case also went to Nebraska center also and they got back to me in 5 months. It all depends on how busy they are and how well your supporting documents are. Expect a reply from them pretty soon. Remember USCIS will take 5-6 months to review and finally make a decision on your petition.
Now when it comes to NVC their timeline is again 5-6 months but it may vary based on their workload. Once you receive approval from USCIS your case will be transferred to NVC and they will assign you a case no. and ask for additional documents which include Affidavit of support, Financial Documents, Police Clearance certificate. They may ask for additional docs but the ones that I have mentioned are the most generic ones.

For my wife the process took 14 months. I know its very hard time to wait that long but you have to be patient. This Visa process is time consuming. All you can do is to wait...Good Luck to you ....
