Hi folks,
I am in the process of beginning a permanent residency (green card) application for my parents. My father's name as it appears in his passport has a typo, committed by the Indian passport agency when they issued the passport. My father never went back to correct the name, and as such has been using it. The name therefore appears "as is" along with the typo in his issued visa, I-94 etc. On the other hand, all of his supporting documents (affidavits etc) have his correct name.
My question is which of the following options should I pursue:
a) Should I enter his incorrect name in the green card application forms just to be consistent with his passport and separately explain the name-inconsistency in an affidavit?
OR
b) Should I enter his correct name in the green card application forms and explain separately that the passport has a typo?
Please comment if you can. It would be of great help.
Thanks
Ram
