  • Do I have to go to my sponsor/brother when I arrive in the US

I am waiting on my package so I can travel to the US, do I need to go directly to my sponsor/brother when I arrive in the US?also do I need to stay in the US until I get the green card in hand or can have it mailed to me in my home country? How long does it take to be mailed?

No, there is no such requirement

No, you don't need to wait. The moment you enter the US with an immigrant visa, you immediately become a US permanent resident, and as a permanent resident, you can take temporary trips abroad at any time (even take the next flight out if you want). You won't have the plastic card yet, but the immigrant visa, upon entry, **** *ally turns into an I-551 (green card) valid for 1 year from the date of entry, so you immediately have proof of permanent residency that you can use for work or travel. The card will be mailed to your address in the US assuming you have paid the USCIS immigration fee; it won't be mailed abroad, but you won't be needing it as you already have proof of permanent residency until 1 year after entry.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

As the spouse of a US citizen, you need not be in status to apply for adjustment of status from within the US, as long as you were inspected and admitted. Hence, you need not go back to the Philippines, and you can apply even after your 6 month stay deadline has been passed.
