Hello,
My wife and I have been married a little less than a year. Our interview was scheduled 9AM in the morning about 2 hours from our home. I work nights and we had just been on a road trip to the Grand Canyon with her children who were visiting for summer break from Colombia. I had taken the last week off from work for the vacation so could not be out the day before the interview.
I asked my wife to reschedule but she thought it would be a bad idea. Needless to say we went in with her stressed about her kids going home that day and me exhausted. The USCIS agent told us pretty quickly that she thought there were problems and I was having trouble answering simple questions. The agent sent my wife out and told me that she would deny us and recommended I withdraw my petition. After about an hour back and forth I agreed just to get out of there. I don't know that I was threatened or coerced but withdraw was probably a mistake as I think with rest and prep we would have done fine in a Stokes interview and our marriage is not perfect but genuine.
Now we are in the process of reapplying. My wife thinks we need a lawyer but it seems like we just need to start from the beginning. Any one have similar situation or offer advice. This whole think has added a lot of stress to our relationship.
