  • Marriage based GC approved: how soon to receive the card in mail?

Hi all, on Nov. 6th, I went to the interview and got approved for my 2 year conditional green card based on marriage. So far I didn't get any online update of my case status (still says see mailed you an interview notice'), not to mention any welcome letter in the mail. I was wondering if this is normal. My field office is Queens NY. Please suggest how soon I could expect to receive the printed green card in mail, because I plan to travel abroad very soon.
    ThaNk you guys in advance!

Just go in to an InfoPass appointment at your local office to get an I-551 stamp. This is equivalent to the plastic card (which is also just an I-551) in every way for 1 year.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

Thank you! I will try that way. But I really hope I can receive the physical card before my trip

Happy Thanksgiving guys! The thing is there is No available appointments in any of my local offices... So I cannot make info pass and get an I-551 stamp ... The time I come back from my trip to the US will be TWO months after my AOS interview ( the date I was granted a 2 year conditional green card), so I assume me printed plastic green card should be arriving in mail before my return. Is it too crazy to leave the US without the card, and have someone check my mail and forward the plastic card to me so that I can have it the time I recenter the US? Please suggest. Thank you.

You can, but you run the risk of the card getting lost in the mail, etc. It's also not certain that the card will be mailed in 2 months at all.

Thank you newacct for being so helpful all he times.
Update: I received the welcome letter on 11/24, followed by the printed green card in the mail today, 11/27

Should I still carry my expired forms I-20( from my terminated student F-1 visa) when I travel, or that's definitely Not necessary?
            Thank you.
