I864: Affidavit of support: Federal Income Tax Return Information

Hi,

I am filling I864- Affidavit of support to sponsor my parents greencard. I have following question regarding total income tax:

My husband and I file income taxes jointly. The form asks for my total federal income tax returns for the most recent three years. So will the total income amount be just my income or total of both our incomes?

The income tax amount is from form 1040, line 22. 1040A amount is from Adjusted Total income. Only most recent tax year is needed.

But annual income of each is separate on an earlier page of the I-864.

You must put the exact number from the "total income" line of your tax return from that year, no matter how you filed. You cannot put a different number.
