hi Guys,
Can somebody enlighten me on this issue. My wife is filing for green card for me. Her income is low hence the reason why i needed to work and support the family. So we got somebody to help sponsor us. The major challenge now is that the man sponsoring us said he file joint tax with his wife. my question:
1. Can he use the regular form I-864?
2. if no, kindly tell me the form he needs to fill so i could download and give to him.

As the petitioner, your wife will fill out an I-864 checking "I am the petitioner", even if her household income is insufficient. Note that if you are working legally, your income can be counted in her household income, so check if that is enough before getting a joint sponsor.

As the joint sponsor, the man fills out an I-864 and checks "I am the only joint sponsor". He would list his own individual income, and if that's already enough, he doesn't need to count his wife's income and she doesn't need to do anything. If his own income is not enough and needs to count his wife's income to have enough household income, then she needs to fill out an I-864A.
