  • Wire funds from India to USA - Limit for Green card holders?

    Question:

My cousin and his wife landed on Family immigration - Green card in Jun 2017.

They stayed 6 months in USA - got their Green cards and went back to India in Dec 2017.

Now they are planning to return in March 2018 after selling their property - they have some extra money which they to want to wire transfer to USA.

Is there any maximum limit to transfer from India as they have already done their first landing?

If they wire money to their account in USA from India - will there be any tax consequence?

Is there any web link which i can read to gain more understanding?

    Thanks

    Parry

There are no US tax consequences of transferring their cash from one country to another. However, since they sold their property after they became US tax residents, they are liable for US capital gains taxes on the sale
