    My H1B expired over 3 months ago and I filed an i-130 and i-485 as an immediate relative a month ago. I still have not heard from USCIS but I'm planning to travel to another state by plane. Is there a possibility that I would get detained at the airport from being out of status?

    It is possible, but very unlikely. Carry your I-485 filing receipt with your valid unexpired government issued ID

      If you have valid drivers license or state ID you dont need to show them your passport
