Joint sponsor obligations

I understand that the joint sponsor has the same financial obligations as the primary sponsor.
Have you heard of cases where a government agency asked sponsor to repay the expenses? Can you share examples.
The means-tested-public-benefits list includes medicaid. I know that lot of parents (age 65+) who come here on greencard sponsored by their child get medicaid insurance (e.g. medi-cal in california). Will the government ask the sponsor to pay back these expenses?

As far as I know, no government is currently suing for repayment.
