i130 processing

I'm a us citizen and i submitted I-130 for my spouse. my file is in the california Office. Once it's approved by the california office, how long will it take the NVC to sent the file to the chennia consular office? Please help me. I wondering if i should apply for a k-3 visa. my i130 receipt notice date is march , 2006. They are currently doing nov 2005.
