  • Non applicable field on i-130a

Hello. I am filling the i-130a form to apply for a green card since my wife is American.

On the instructions it says that you cannot leave anything blank. That you should fill "None" if the field does not apply to you. The problem is that some of the fields that not apply to me (e.g Alien registration number) are nummeric and adobe won't let me put anything but numbers there.

Any ideas on what should I do? Thanks in advance

You can disable JavaScript in Acrobat Reader and type in "none", or write it in by hand.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

The way we did it was simply once printed out, used black pen and wrote N/A in anything that wasn't applicable.

Were your application accepted like that? Also, did you just put N/A on the first Answer space or on everything that was blank?

Yeah they were accepted like that. Their instructions actually say put N/A where it doesn't apply to you.

It's a good idea to put N/A in all boxes that don't apply as it shows you have read the question and decided it doesn't relate to your application, this shows USCIS you've read the form fully.
