Consular processing of father's visa: Has anyone went through a DNA process for an immigrant visa for your parent? How is it? Do they always ask that and with a parent who is close to 70? How much is that? Is it cheaper and easier if both are in the country?

In my experience if the father is not on the birth certificate then this is required. They will provide you with a center in each country where you can report to and they will collect samples and provide the results. Once results are in your application will be either be approved or denied based on results.
