  • Immigrant visa for souse of a US citizen (CR1 category)

    Hi All,

This will be an I130 + CP (@New Delhi) route.

    Marriage date = 6/29/2018
    I130 filed on = 7/21/2018

Immigration / visa history is COMPLETELY clean for both-- petitioner, came to the US on F1 in 1990, became LPR in mid-1990s, became an US citizen in 1999; petitioned spouse has previously visited US on F-1 and B1, but no travel in the last 4 years. No overstays by either side, ever. Petitioner has sufficient income / assets.

What's the fastest turn around we can expect? What are some tips to help speed the processing time? Is it realistic to expect a CP interview by Labor Day? By Thanksgiving? By Christmas?

Thanksgiving time frame is more realistic.

      Hi NJ GC Seeker,

Do you mean (a) Thanksgiving time frame for processing of I-130 ONLY; or (b) Thanksgiving time frame for processing of I130 + CP @ the embassy?

I hope it is (b), but want to be sure. I would like to set the right expectations for myself and my spouse, based on other people's recent experiences.

I would say, fastest would be 12 months, reality around 13-15 months

            Abumiqdad,

That sounds TOO LONG, for IR1 case (immediate relative, spouse of a US citizen) case. Did you have any bad experience, or are you just being pessimistic?
