We are planning on filing a green card application for parents who are on a visitor visa without proper health insurance coverage. Most visitor health insurance have ridiculously low limits of coverage with significant out of pocket expenses. They may potentially qualify for medi-cal by the State of California. Can obtaining insurance via medi-cal (which is state sponsored) interfere with the processing of their green card application?
