  • IR2?? Description is ambiguous?

I worked in Singapore six years. I met my Burmese (Myanmar) wife there. We got married in California. We continued to live in Singapore four more years. All by myself, I filled out an i130, and the i864, then the i260. She was issued an IR1 visa, and is now here with me.

Her son still lives in Burma. He is attending school there. She visited him all the time. We chatted in the phone, etc. We felt we should not interrupt his schooling. He is a very good student, and takes his studies seriously.

I filled out an i130 petition for her son. We are in no hurry because we want him to complete the school year before he departs for the USA where he will attend high school, and collage with us.

Soon enough we will fill out the i864. The only thing I do not know is what visa type he will require. I assume it is in IR2.

I have never actually met him in person, only video chat. Does that matter?

Yes it will be IR2 (assuming he is unmarried and under 21). No it doesn't matter if you've met him. All that matters is that you married his mother before he turned 18.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

      Hey, great! Thank you

He is a "computer nerd" like me. I work in the best place to be a nerd. He can be an intern in collage. Now that he knows I am an engineer, that is what he wants to go to school for. Hahahaha
