My wife is Filipino and we got an I-130 approved through the US Embassy in Manila through direct consular filing (only took 4 weeks). However, right when the I-130 was approved at the end of August, we, for various reasons, decided to go to Vietnam for 3 months. We tried to continue the green card process here in Vietnam, but the consulate here declined to transfer our case because we told them we'd only be here for 3 months. So now we will go back to Manila to finish the process. Does anyone know if the Manila Embassy will get mad at us for our time in Vietnam? I'm worried they won't consider us residents of PH anymore. We go back to PH in November and I hope to do the visa interview in December, then move to the US in January.

Did we make a mistake briefly moving to another country in the middle of DCF?

I don't think spending 3 months away from your regular domicile, to which you eventually returned, would qualify as "moving to another country". You just took a vacation, now you're back, and you can resume formalities. Why would the embassy be "mad at you" ? This is your visa application not theirs, they don't care how much time it takes you to complete it.
