  • Proof of US Domicile for I-864a

    Hi,

I'm submitting an I-864a as a household member for my husband's petition for his mother. The ceac system shows that I'm required to submit proof of U.S. domicile. I'm not sure why I need to submit this since I'm a US citizen and have lived here my whole life, and other documents that we've submitted (2017 tax return and our marriage certificate) show my address in the US. What type of document would be best to submit for this? I can't find any information on what can be used for proof of U.S. domicile in the form's instructions. Would a copy of my drivers license or passport work?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Most family-based immigrants and some employment-based immigrants use this form to show they have adequate means of financial support and are not likely to rely on the U.S. government for financial support.
This is strictly an opinion and should not be misconstrued as legal advice. The use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

I guess I'll try submitting recent bills with my address and a copy of my drivers license, and hope it's sufficient.
