  • Next Step: I 551 Visa Stamp (Family Sponsored)

    Hello Everyone,

I hope you are doing well. I have a family based application applied in 2005 (F3), and became current where I have done the interview in the embassy and received my passport with I 551 stamped on it. I am currently in USA for a month, where I have obtained my social security and license. Now, I am supposed to leave back in a week, but I have received a notification for bio-metrics appointment by mail. Again, I need to leave the country after bio-metrics appointment as I am still on the top of my job (outside USA).

My question here is what is required from me after the bio-metrics and when? do I need to show up for an interview again? the problem here is the cost of flight tickets and not being able to leave my job before finding another job in the US. any idea on the process and the processing times?

    Thanks,

    Hani

This doesn't make sense. If you entered the US on an immigrant visa (what you have on your passport is an immigrant visa, which only turned into an I-551 when you entered the US), you are a US permanent resident, and you should not need to do any biometrics or interview, unless you applied for something else.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
