I 797C received after filing I 130

Hi,

I have received I 797 which shows notice type "receipt', case type "Petition for Alien relative", receipt number, and the priority date. What happens next? The sibling category has a long wait period, however, will I get any more communication from them before that wait time ends? The notice just mentions when they received the application, the processing fee they received and the details that I have mentioned above.

The I-130 petition itself will be approved in a few years, long before a visa number becomes available. After approval, the petition will move to NVC, to wait for a visa number to become available many more years later.

Thanks for the reply. The priority date will be determined after the approval? Will it be the date they have received the application, or it will be determined after the approval?

The priority date should be listed on the receipt you received. Visa availability will be based on that date.
