Green Card for Parents

I am a US citizen and my parents were recently denied a tourist visa because I am a US citizen. If I apply for a green card for them, would they have to spend 6 months in the US every year? They have heard from various sources that it is enough if they keep returning to the US every 6 months even if they stay only for about a month each time they visit. Is this true?

No. If they only stay here for a month each year they will run into problems eventually.
