  • Petitioning a very sick brother

    Hi,

First, thanks to this very helpful website and to everyone contributing to this.

I have already petitioned my father and mother this past April. They've been taking care of my younger brother (single, 36 yrs old). He's been undergoing dialysis for kidney failure for at least 6 years now. He also had heart failure. Last time I went home, he was gravely ill to the point that we thought he's going to pass on. Thankfully, he's lucid and he recovered but he still needs a lot of help. Bedridden, wears diapers, and all that. I've been thinking of petitioning him but I know it will take longer than if my parents petitions him. What should I do? Should I proceed with me sponsoring him or should I wait for my parents to become immigrants and then petition him? Can I use medical reason to expedite the processing of his papers?

    God bless and thanks again!

If you look at the latest visa bulletin,

    Family for India

    1st 01JAN98
    2A 22SEP99
    2B 01DEC96
    3rd 01OCT98
    4th 01JUL95

you will see that the cut off dates for both the categories(2B unmarried children of permanent residents /4th brothers sisters of USCs)are about the same , a wait period of almost 10 years.
I am sorry his illness cannot expedite the process.
