how long to wait for my greencard?

I entered the US in april on an immigrant visa (marriage) and got the temporary stamp in my passport that is valid for a year (I-551). How long do I have to wait to get my greencard? Can I check the status somewhere?

It may take few months. There is no way to check the status.

You can certaily contact your Local USCIS office but as far as I know, it can take up to 2 months. My brother came here in Feb and received his GC in mail in May/June.
