I m Turkish I came in NY with my 10yrs B2 touristic visa and I got married a USA citizen on Dec 2004 and we were told we should file I_130 and we did. I got an interview appointment in USA Embassy in Ankara/Turkey.. I went there with my husband and they wanted me to registered my marriage in Turkey which wasnt posiable (Turkish goverment did not accept my marriage certificate), For somereason I dont want to register my marriage there or here in NY Turkish Embassy anyway. and also I was told I should stay in my country till my husband solved the problem here but we did not listen them and came back to USA..so I heard if I would have filed I-485 in the beginning there would not be a problem like this.
My question is can I change my status from I -130 to I-485? or start all over and file I/485 wait for to get an interwiev 2 more years?
