I don't want to clutter up the forum but I thought this section may be more appropriate for my question/concern:

Because I have earned 40 credits after working in the U.S. for 14 years, I filed the I-864W instead of I-864. With the I-864W form, I included the earnings statement that the Social Security Administration sends me yearly. For whatever reason, USCIS sent me a pink letter (Request for Initial Evidence) requesting a completed I-864. At the bottom of the letter, it mentions that if I have accumulated 40 qualifying quarters I can submit the I-864W form. I noticed they mentioned "certified earnings statement" but nowhere in their forms/guidelines do they mention the need for a certified statement. Is this why they made their request for initial evidence? I have sent a request to SSA for a certified copy of my earnings but it could take weeks and USCIS gave me 87 days to get the paperwork to them. I'm tempted to just go ahead and fill out the I-864 form but it would be nice to know if it is this certified earnings statement they really need/want or was my original documentation OK and they screwed up by losing it or something like that. Thanks in advance!
