My mother is a greencard. She came to the US to keep the greencard current but she is now leaving after 6 months of stay in USA. Before leaving she applied for greencard for my brother. I want to know since she is leaving the USA to go back to her native country, can I take over the sponsorship for my sister and if not should I have to apply afresh by paying the application fee again. Please some one help me with their advice in the matter. Thanks in advance. Ann

It really depends on so many things. how old is your sister?is she single or married?
despite of these things always consider this fact that mother is much more faster sponser rather than brother.your mother better to come back to us every 6 monthes and open an bank account in us or other things to prove her domicile in us. there is chance that after 5 year your mother will become us citizen and yuo will upgrade the case of your sister from F2B(if she is single) to F1.
Do not forget that single son or daughter of us green card holder above 21 year's old ,are valid benificiaries.if your sister marries then she needs to wait for your mother citizenship then open a new case.it is up to her. us or marrage??
good luck
