  • Priority date looming - 2 questions!

My mum petioned for me as 'unmarried son of US citizen' and it was approved july 2001. Priority date is looming and I have 2 questions:

    1. I have married since petition was approved - what do I need to do to make sure my wife and I can emigrate together? Is it possible to add her or do we drop to cat 3 'married son....'?

    2. My mum altho US by birth (and passport) has resided in UK all her adult life. My brother has been in US as perm resident for 14 years and is about to become citizen.
I intended to use my bro as main sponsor - is there a problem cos my mum doesn't reside in US?

I'd be very grateful for some help from those who know!!

    Thanks, Rae

    Hello,

First of all as a married son of US citizen you will be under F3 category which has 01FEB99 as curent priority date. but let me ring the bell for you very seriously with my own experiences

After waiting for 8 year's ,now i have a pending immigrant visa in us embassy in lack of proofs for my mother us domicilary. i was under F1 category as a unmarried son of us citizen living in us but she is 62 years' old and lives with my older brother in us ,so she does not have a house/driving license/rental agreement /bank account and it's been around 6 month that i am providing resources for embassy in order to prove my visa so do not lean of your mother citizenship

petitoner(your mother) should be a us domicle and this is a mandatory requisite for your immigration case.

    good luck
