  • Desperate!!! Help

    Hello,

My mom is a legal resident and she applied for my sister in 1999 her priority date is feb of 2000 and we have not heard from anyone about her process. I have called to info and they told me that it's out of date and she should have received something others tell me that she still has to wait 4years. We are so desperate to get her here, she was recently diagnosted with "Cancer" I was wondering if there is anyway to get her docs expedited due to illness.
Could this be done?? We don't know how much time my sister has left we would also like her to be treated here, we don't trust doctors in our country because a recent family member was burned while doing Quimo therapy.
    What can be done??

legal residents cannot petition for immigrant visas for sisters; only
US citizens can. Even for that wait is many years.

*Confirm which category your mother applied for your sister?
*What is your country of nationality?

Sorry I read it wrong , I thought it was your mom's sister.

OK, the category is F2b (children of PRs over 21).
The wait from the date of filing is about 10 years.
If you look at the visa bulletin on the state department website (travel.state.gov), you will find that current cut off date for
        F2b is May 1997.
So she has to wait about 2-3 more years.

You cannot expedite the process due to medical illness.

If she is not very ill, I suggest you try to get her an H-1 visa if she
        qualifies.
because visitor visa will be hard to get due to a pending immigrant
        petition.
