My spouse (an American citizen) sponsored my Immigrant Visa issued past few weeks in India. Both of us are planning to move to the US in 2 months. We already have a residence/address in US.
I work for a US MNC and am needed to attend an urgent company meeting in a fortnight for a couple of days only. I would not be taking my spouse at that time as we are not ready yet. Can I travel to US on the issued Immigrant Visa? My existing B1/B2 was canceled without prejudice when the Immigrant Visa was issued. I intend coming back to India after the meeting and then finally moving with my spouse and all material.
Somewhere I read that the spouse (sponsor) has to be in US or at least travel at the same time the Immigrant arrives at the Port of Entry. Is this true?
