I live in Michigan and I am an USC. The following was the timeline for my mother's GreenCard. She was here when I applied for COS. I did use an attorney...

Oct 12, 2006 -- Original Receipt Date
Oct 17, 2006 -- Rejection Due to typo
Oct 25, 2006 -- Modified Received Date
Oct 31, 2006 -- Notice Date
Nov 16, 2006 -- Finger Printing
Dec 07, 2006 -- Transferred to California
Dec 18, 2006 -- I-130 Approved
Dec 19, 2006 -- I-485 Approved
Dec 23,2006 -- Green Card received by Mail.

If i may ask what type of typo was it, that they rejected the original. Just asking as i recently submitted my documents.

I guess the processing time is significantly different if one's mother is in India? I applied for my mom (aug 2006) and it has not moved much at all?

I am new here and just read your timeline, congratulations!! on that, I am thinking of applying for my mother's GC; please let me know what precautions I should take if any?
Did you hire an attorny, if yes then which one? i am in Michigan too.
Please let me know how you proceeded and does this timeline usually happens with all parents GC?
