  • Stamp or no Stamp??

    Hello,

I read in different threads of this forum. I am really confused to see that some users are getting a stamp on their passports after the interview and some do not. I am confused because, based on my readings and findings, I had heard that USCIS do not stamp your passport anymore.

can someone with stamping please shed some light?? Why would they stamp your passport in some offices and some office do not???

    Thankss............

I had my interview at the San Antonio office on March 22nd. After a very short interview, the officer stamped my passport (I-551) and told me to expect my conditional green card in 2-3 weeks.

The officer didn't mention the background check so I'm assuming everything is in order. We mailed the package late October and I received one RFE (they wanted an I-864 instead of the I-864W that I submitted). I got the info to them in January and by early February I had received the interview notice. We had our fun though...I temporarily lost/misplaced the interview notice prior to the interview and on the day of my interview my stamped passport fell out of one of my folders when we left the USCIS office. A little backtracking and we found the passport in the parking lot.

SA if I understand this correct, you went for your interview but your background check was not done by the time of your interview. This means that INS could not approve your case until the background check is done. When I went to my interview my background check was done and that’s why I was approve and revived the stamp in my passport. When your background check is done the INS will approve you and you will receive you green card and not a stamp.

          I hope this helps

so when the background check is completed, what happens? do I get a letter or call or notice?
congrats to everyone and good luck to rest.
