hi, i am married to usa citizen. i applied for i 130 and my interview was at chennai last year in last week of november. i contacted the consulate at chennai and got the following reply.

case is held up for additional security clearance.
does anyone know what it means?

so if anyone has any idea of what this latest development means and how much longer do i have to wait?

Administrative Processing

I've heard of this before. From my understanding it can take quite a long time for it to clear. But from what I've read you have already waited a while. I have heard that it can take months for it to clear. 6-12 months would not surprise me. I would continue to check on the case, you wouldn't want to think that they were working on it and found out that they weren't. If I were you I would contact an attorney to see if maybe they can be of assistance at this point. I've heard of cases that were in A/P for quite some time.

the embassy mentions on its site those who applied for immigration visa not to contact them they will contact us and our contacting them might delay the process.anyway i went ahead and contacted them and i i got this reply .
the case requires extra security clearance .
i am extremely worried about this.
