Leaving to India w/o I-485 receipt. Can it be mailed to India?

Hi,
I'm leaving to India for a month immediately after applying I485.
For instance I'm filing 485 on July 1st and leaving to India on July 22nd.Hope I'll receive the receipt by that time as I heard that it takes 2 weeks to get a receipt.

Just in case if i didn't receive my 485 receipt by that time, will I still travel without it?

And in the meantime my husband will mail me the 485 receipt to India so that i can use it on my return to US.

Is this possible? Please advice.

call uscis and i am sure this can be worked out.

leela, if you applied for a family based green card the receipt won't get you back to the US. If you are already on a Visa that isn't going to expire I am sure you will be fine. But as soon as that receipt comes through, if it is before you leave, you will be abandoning your process if you leave the country if you have applied for a green card strictly and only through marriage.

you had to fill form I-131, take parrole and then you can go , otherwise you will not be allowed entry
