I need help on what to do about applying for a green card or which green card i should apply for, i live in the U.S. with my wife and she is a U.S. Citizen i've gone to one lawyer and said he would help me but i would have to leave the united states for 2 years in order to get any kind of green card so i can be able to work and live in the U.S. with my wife legally. I need help on what are the steps of what i have to do in detail because i don't know where to start or where to go to apply, i've been living in the U.S. since i was 5 years old and when i herd that i would have to leave for 2 years back to Mexico i decided to not go through with any paper work becuase i don't think i can last that long living in Mexico by myself without my wife.

That lawyer didn't give you very good information. I'd seek another lawyer. If you are already in the US, your wife could start to apply for your green card application. It sounds like he told you two years because he wanted you to go back to Mexico, to apply for a K-3 or CR-1 or an IR-1, and then re-enter once it is all approved. I am not so sure , however.

Have you been in the US illegally since you were 5? If so, the only problem I see is that you should talk to a lawyer about you over staying as a visitor for so long and how that might affect you.
