Hi,
I am a US citizen and have sponsored for my Mother in India to immigrate. Currently waiting on NVC to send the DS230 form (130 approved, al fees paid, I864 sent). Today my mom told me that someone visited her at home in chennai and asked her for proof of her residence there (like phone bill etc.). He mentioned that this is related to her visa. Unfortunately, in a hurry she did not ask him who he is.
Is this normal and would the US consulate be doing this. I am confused because we are waiting for PCC from the Passport office and I wonder if this is a ID check from them.
Any thoughts on similar experience appreciated.
