Legalization for illigal wife of US CITIZEN

i ned some help with my wifes status.
We got married about 5 months ago and before that she was in US on the work visa,since we start dating she decided to stay in US and became illigal.Now that we married i can actually help her with the issue but i do not know what forms i need and what is the procedure for that.We do not reaaly care for the Green card right away the main thing that we want to make sure she has is the ability to work legally and go in & out of the country as she pleases.Does anyone know what to do in this case.

hello, since your wife came in with a visa she can adjust her status without leaving the country. If your wife has been out of status for more than 6 months She should NOT, I repeat NOT leave the country under any circumstances until she gets a green card or she will be barred from returning for up to 10 years.
