Hi:

I would be applying for my citizenship shortly and immediately after getting it I shall be applying for my parents green cards.

My problem here is that I know that one of the documents that my parents have to submit is their birth certificates. But my father never had a birth certificate nor does he have school records (he did not complete his schooling). the only other place where his birth date is shown is on his passport...

Will this cause a problem? Is there any other alternative?

The usual way in such cases is to get affidavits from people who can vouch for the birth date, i.e., relatives.

1. From how many people do we need to get an affidavit from?

2. Do thay have to be relatives of my dad? e.g. My dad's father is still alive. Also my dad's sister and brother? Certificates from these should be ok right?

3. Can my mothers relatives e.g. sisters and brothers sign an affidavit to vouch for dad's Birth certificate?

2. letter from municipal stating birth record is not available?
