Your application must be sent to the Chicago Lockbox. Where they will pre-process your application. From there, it will be sent to the NBC (National Benefits Center) in Lee's Summit, MO. Where they will process your EAD (work permit) and AP (Advance Parole) if you applied for them.

You will receive a biometrics notice and be requested to show up at your nearest Application Service Center in your Area/State (you can find which one is yours here: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?ac...ffice_type=ASC just enter your ZIP code).

Your case will then be sent to your Local District office (you can find which one is yours here: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?ac...office_type=LO just enter your ZIP code)

At your Local District office they will conduct your interview and upon approval they will forward the information back to the NBC. They will process it and send you the approval notices, including the Permanent Resident Card.

If you ever run into some problem or have questions, you can schedule an appointment to speak to an immigration officer about your case at your local District Office through the infopass system (http://infopass.uscis.gov)

Hope that cleared it up for you?

              No.

Once you receive your EAD or GC you will be entitled to apply for drivers license (once you have gotten your Social Security Number) for the time the card (either one) is valid. Which will be 1 year for the EAD and 2 for the GC.

If you receive a 10 year GC, then you can apply for a regular license for however long licenses are issued in your state.
