Applied for GC...No Receipt so far...

Hello,

I have applied for GC for my mother and I have sent all the documentation I-130/I-485/I-131/I-693 on 11/05.

1. When can I expect the Reciept or any other communication from INS? All I have at this point is the Prrof that USPS delivered and it was signed by Someone. I tracked the delivery online. I know some people use the Personal Cheques but I used Money Order. So I can't use the check route to figure out that INS is working on my case.

2. My Mother's I-94 expires on Dec-13th. Can she legally stay after the expiration in case if she doesn't receive her Receipt by then?

I read on this forum that it is illegal to stay after I-94 expiration without a Receipt in Hand.

The receipt will take at least 30 days.

Your mother is allowed to stay past the date on her I-94. Her status is now pending with USCIS and though it would help if she had the receipt in her hand. For the meantime just make sure she doesn't go and get in trouble.

You do not apply to a service center anymore.

All family based GC applications go to the Chicago Lockbox.

Hi there. I sent out all my documentation to chicago lockbox on 11/14. They received it on 11/15. I know is stil early to ask for receipts. But just want to know the estimated time to receive receipt.
