does ones credit have an effect on being granted a green card even if your income surpasses the poverty 125% guidelines, and if so what can one do?

Ah!
That seems to be some sort of a problem. If you're absolutely sure that you've not done anything wrong and have all the necessary documents to show otherwise, in case USCIS asks, then you should be OK. They may not be convinced with your marriage documents/interview.
In case, you know of any wrong doing on your part, it's best to consult an attorney.
It may be a very minor thing that USCIS may want to get some more information from you before they continue the process.
Let's see if anyone else in this forum has had a personal experience which he/she may choose to share with you.

fyi, the interview took maybe 10-15 minutes. basic questions were asked and answered. our marriage is valid and true and can be attested to by all who know us without a doubt. however, just to be on the safe side, we have retained the services of an attorney. also, when we submitted all the required forms for processing we received the receipts very quickly-within a four month period. there were no requests for additional information. i just want this over so we can travel abroad and see my in-laws, for they are quite old. thanks again for the feedback.
