When you receive your EAD or GC,

You must then go to your local Social Security Administration (SSA) Office, and apply for a Social Security Number (SSN).

Once you have your SSN card, you got to your local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or Department of Public Safety (DPH) and apply for a Driver's License.

You can not apply for the DL without proof of legal status in the USA (such as EAD or GC, or I-94 allowing you to stay longer than 183 Days), your passport, and a SSN.

I completely agree with you. Bike driving is beneficial for our health as well as environment. I have been driving aero bikes for the last 3 years and still continuing.

You can get your driver's license as soon as you are Ready to Be Licensed.
In order for the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to process your application, you will need to provide proof of citizenship or legal residency, pass a vision test and written knowledge test (if applicable), and pay the appropriate fee. Typically, these requirements are completed within 2-3 weeks after applying. Once all of this is complete, you will be issued a temporary driving permit that lets you practice while waiting for your permanent license appointment. You should plan on having this date at least 4-6 weeks in advance so that there isn't any delay in getting started with learning how to drive!
