immigrating parents from bosnia to usa

hi,
i was just wondering if anyone has any experience about how long it takes from the beginning of the process until the time my parents would be allowed to immigrate from Bosnia to USA. The lawyer I am working with asked me if I was sure I wanted this done through the consulate, saying that it takes much longer to do it that way then having them come here on tourist visa and adjust status. my parents want to do it the right way without playing with the system so they want to do it from bosnia. how long is 'much longer' that the lawyer hinted on.

Congratulations for doing things the right way.

The difference from AOS and CP is only of about 2-3 months.

It will be 8-10 months before your parents can come on an immigrant visa, but when they enter through the POE they will be residents right then.
