  • F-1 visa holder apply for GC through marriage

I'm a F-1 visa holder and in my first year of a 5-year PhD program. I married a US citizen last Dec. and want to apply for GC now.

    Should I submit all the forms (I-130, G-325A or G-325?, I-864, I-485, I-765, I-131, I-693) to Chicago mailbox together? (I'm in AZ)

If I can pay the fees with one check, what's the total?

I'm a student, do I need to submit I-765 for employment? (I'm a fellowship student)

If I'll not travel outside US during the period waiting for GC, do I need to submit I-131?

Should I get any visa number or file number (in G-325A) before I submit the files?

    Thanks

yes, you must submit all the forms to chicago lockbox, and make sure to have to checks. One for$ 1,010 and another one for $355. You can pay all the forms with one check, however is better with two so you can track your case easily in the future.

    Good Luck

If you won't travel you do not need to submit an I-131, however, the fee for this travel document is included in the fee for the I-485, so why not file for it? in the event of an emergency you will need it to return to the USA.

And no, you will not get an Alien number until you get the receipts for the I-485, so fill in "none" on whatever fields ask you for that.

Thanks very much. I still have some questions.

I'm a student, do I need to submit I-765 for employment? (I'm a fellowship student)

Since I have a fellowship for 5 years and I can financially support myself, should I mention this in any form? (I received a check every month, but I have no income or federal income tax return paperwork)

For the I-864, what's notarized mean?

For the I-693, I should make a appointment with a local USCIS Civil Surgeon and have an examination before I turn in the form?

My husband and I bought a car together and on the same insurance policy, should I make copies of this and submit? What other supporting materials should I submit to help in the process? Any photos will help?

        Thanks very much.
