  • Direct Consular Filing V AOS?

I am wondering which of these is the better option? I have taken note of all the necessary forms that I need to fill out after marriage to US Citizen (I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131, I-693, G-325a - Unsure about I-864? Is this compulsory?)

I just want to clarify fees also. Am I right in saying that I-765 & I-131 are incl. in fee for I-465? That the total fee due will be $1,365 excl. Medical fees?

There seems to be pros & cons for the Direct Consular Filing. I am Irish and my soon-to-be-husband ...is a U.S. Citizen. We just want to send our file to wherever is quickest (obviously lol) and prevent any mistakes!

If USCIS at a U.S. Center is the better option what is the address? I can't find it and I read on another thread that the Marriage based GC's are not dealt with through what we thought were one of the 4 Centers for all States. Something about Chicago Lockbox??

I'm hoping I hear from Praetorian...the Fountain of Knowledge!!

Many thanks for taking the time in reading this and I appreciate all advice.

First of all, answer this question. Where are you right now? in Ireland or the USA.

There is only 2 ways to get a Green Card, if you are in the USA legally, then apply for Adjustment of Status. If you are in Ireland, then you must go through Consular Processing, either for an Immigrant Visa or for a K-3 visa and then AOS in the US.

I am currently in the U.S. Came on VWP to visit b/friend who asked me to marry him over Christmas!!! I am on career break (sabatical) from work atm in Ireland until July '08 and I have been using this time to travel.

I understand that we go through the USCIS then the fact I am here? Direct Consular Filing is only if I was still in Ireland?

      Many thanks for your help!

        You will undergo Adjustment Of Status and will need: I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131, I-693, G-325a and I-864

You only need to pay fees for the I-485 and the I-130, the fees for the I-131 and I-765 are included in the check for $ 1,010 (for AOS I-485).

You need to mail ALL forms and supporting documents/evidence to the Chicago Lockbox address found in the I-485.
