green card through grand mother

Hello, I was wondering whether you could help me out on information on obtaining a green card . I am currently a British citizen and am looking to obtain status of Lawful permanent resident in the United States in order to fulfill my ambition and join the armed forces there. Although I cannot really see myself fitting into many of the categories of eligibility. My grandmother (an L.P.R of the U.S) said that she would be willing to sponsor me, and the only real way of that working is through process of employment. I have contacted Any help will be fabulous.
