Waiving fees for greencard

hey i need help i come from switzerland came in the us with a waiver visa
and got married to my husband a us citizen the 2-august-2006 .I heard that the greencard is free for me but is only good for a while of time is that true?form nother people i heard that it cost 1500-2000 dollar to be a permenant residence but i dont got money so what know how can i have help where and can i? I need to make my ged Have finished high school but in switzerland so i have to make my ged so i can go to the flight attendant school what can i do and is that true that i can have a greencard until receive the papers to be a permenant residence??

Please need help i am a very motivated young person and realy need help
