Good Night,
I found your webpage very useful, it gave me a lot of hints on some of the required applications for inmigrants. However, I have some doubts on some things and I would like to ask for some help...
I'm engaged for marrying and it is most likely that I will marry in 2 or 3 years. I have a legal permanent resident status (green card holder) and have been since year 2002, but I've only been living on the US since this year.
As I am a green card holder I wanted to ask what are the guidelines so that my spouse can have a GC? I've read that in some cases it may take several years for a visa number to be available, but given the fact marrying is the final step on being together, it would not sound very reasonable living apart for that much time before a number becomes available. Can it be done another way? By embassies or consulates? Or is it the same? What about V type visas? Is there a way one can marry, apply for a F2 GC and yet the spouse can live in the US legally?
And also the other question would be, how many time does it normally take for a GC holder to become a US citizen? I've the GC since year 2002 but I've only been living on the US since this year... Does this affect applying for a US citizen status?
Any information would be highly appreciated, many thanks in advance.
